Master Suite Additions

When the home is right but the retreat is missing, a master suite addition delivers it — bedroom, spa bath, and dressing space designed into your home's structure so it looks like it was always there.

Master suite addition with bedroom and spa bath for a Boston-area home

What Master Suite Additions Include

  • Primary and master suite additions
  • Second-story additions over existing structure
  • Bedroom, spa bath, and dressing suites
  • Walk-in closets and built-in storage
  • Structural engineering and roofline integration
  • HVAC, electrical, and plumbing extensions

Every element is coordinated as one design-build project — structure, systems, and finishes resolved together before construction begins.

Ground-Level or Second Story

Some homes have the footprint for a graceful ground-level wing; others grow best upward. A second-story addition builds the suite over existing structure — garage, family room, or a full storey — with framing, roofline, and systems engineered during preconstruction and 3D scanning so the plan you approve holds up in the field. Either way, the addition should read as original to the house, not attached to it.

Service Areas

Capstone builds master suite and second-story additions throughout Greater Boston and Norfolk County, including Wellesley, Lexington, Newton, Weston, Needham, Brookline, Winchester, Foxborough, Dover, and the surrounding communities. See all areas we serve.

Frequently asked questions

What is a master suite addition?

A master (primary) suite addition adds a true retreat to your home — bedroom, spa-style bath, and dressing space — either as a ground-level addition or a second-story addition built over existing structure.

Can you add a second story to my home?

Often, yes. We assess the existing structure and foundation during preconstruction, then engineer the framing, roofline, and systems so the new story reads as original to the house.

How long does a master suite addition take?

It varies with structure and scope. We define the schedule during preconstruction — design, permitting, then typically several months of construction — and communicate proactively throughout.
